Arthas

Resin print of Arthas from World of Warcraft

In October 2025, it was the 30th birthday of a dear friend who’s a big fan of World of Warcraft. I had spotted a nice model of Arthas from World of Warcraft from NomNom Figures, so I decided to print and paint it for him.

I’ll share the process below.

In Chitubox, a 3D software used for resin printers, I imported the model and kept the settings set by the model creator. After the print finished, I realised I should not have used the pre-supported model, as it printed very thick supports. It took me half an hour to remove all of them, and it also left marks on the model.

There’s the printed model after removing the supports, curing the leftover resin, and sanding it.

The next step was to prime it so the paint would adhere better.

That’s some progress on the sword and the base. On the base I brushed the paint with three different shades of blue to get an icy look on the right, and brushed again on the left with a gold color to get a black/gold dragon. I used thinned blue and white to make the eye shine. I’ve used the same technique on the sword, but the runes are so small it’s hard to see.

And here’s the final result with painted Arthas! I’ve followed Krayorn’s suggestion to add painted cotton to fake the ice at his feet, which I think looks good but might be a terrible dust catcher.
