Collection: Coasters

I’ve celebrated a few homewarmings this year and figured coasters were a nice thought.

I made a few mistakes with this set of coasters.

They are multicolor prints, so I didn’t need to paint them. However, I wanted to apply a coat of varnish to add a bit of protection, since they are meant to have glasses placed on them.

When spraying the varnish, I put them on a piece of cardboard that had already been used for another project and still had black paint on it. When I sprayed the varnish, it somehow transferred black paint onto some of the coasters. I should have used a clean piece of cardboard for varnishing.

One of the coasters was impossible to clean without damaging it. I ended up repainting part of the white filament, which you can see in the upper right of the image (the white and grey cat).

Of course, I made a few more mistakes afterward. I left them outside to dry, but there was some wind and dust settled on them. They were still perfectly fine for people who didn’t know about these issues, but it was still a bit frustrating.
