My bank’s app doesn’t have a categorisation feature, so I can’t manage my budget directly within the app.

For the past few years, I’ve been exporting my transactions and managing my budget in a Google Sheet. I’ve built plenty of formulas and graphs, but the automation was still quite limited.

I didn’t want to send my bank data to some random third-party application, and I wasn’t particularly fond of the look and feel of Actual Budget, so I decided to build my own.

It was also a good opportunity to try out Claude’s Auto mode, to see what it could do and how much guidance it would need from me.

Scrat does not connect to your bank, and the application is designed to work entirely offline. I chose to sacrifice some automation in exchange for greater privacy.
